Marietta Cellars wines are consistent, concentrated, complex and, most importantly, pleasurable. We hold true to using exceptional fruit predominantly from our estate vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties to create distinctive blends found only in the Marietta Cellars portfolio. Following our father’s example, we buck the standard wisdom of single source and single varietal wines. For us, blending is the best way to make wines people can count on for quality and consistency.
Our modern California version of an Old World table wine, Old Vine Red™ can be enjoyed with food or without, for a special occasion or for simple pleasure. It is a non-vintage blend of mostly Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignane with small amounts of other varieties included for complexity. Old Vine Red is a delicious, well-made, textured and balanced wine that continues to be amazingly consistent 30 years after the first lot was released.
Ripe, juicy fruit and a lush mouth feel are the hallmarks of Old Vine Red, with peppery spice and dusty earth adding an extra level of richness. Moderate but focused tannins ensure this blend will stand up to almost any food.
Our dad has a long history of honoring those he loves through wine. Now we’re able to do the same for him with a new blend in his favorite Rhone style. Christo, as Marietta called him, captures our father’s closeness to the earth, strength, enormity of heart, and unfailing gentleness. Comprised of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Viognier, this blend is only possible because of who our father is, and what he has taught us.
Full-bodied yet surprisingly soft, this mouth filling wine offers plenty of thick, juicy black fruits and pepper with intense notes of blueberries, lavender, and dried flowers. There’s not a hard edge, but the wine is intense and richly textured. There’s an earthy, volcanic aroma of tar, smoke, and juicy, ripe blueberry notes.
Marietta’s Husband, Armé, lived, worked and fished throughout Alexander Valley, the Yorkville Highlands, Hopland and McDowell Valleys. From our vineyards in those same areas, we bring the best of what these sites offer to create a unique Cabernet-based blend. With Malbec and Petit Verdot providing a structured, full, rich platform, Armé is a tribute not only to our Great Uncle, but also to the wide range of flavors that we now grow in the places he loved so much.
Armé has chewy, rich, concentrated flavors of classic black currant, cherries, smoke and earth, with fine tannins and a long structured finish. The nose elegantly combines aromas of spice-box, green olive and black licorice.
Having known our dad since he was a boy, Viola Angeli sold him the ranch where our winery now sits. Viola lived in her house until she passed away 14 years later. This wine honors her. Angeli Cuvée is a proprietary blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, and a small amount of Syrah, made from our highest quality Sonoma County fruit. A wine that makes an immediate impression, from the first sip to the long, textured finish, Angeli Cuvée is generous and powerful, but also incredibly elegant and complex.
This is a big, rich wine that is generous in its flavors and aromas of dark berries, graphite, briar patch, and hints of oak. The mouth feel is lush and full with a structured, long finish. Aging potential of up to 15 years.
